Teachers have to ask parents for permission to give medicine in school. Then why not this, in a more serious matter.
it is the parents who are responsible for the children ultimately. so they have the right to know everything about their children and this is really a serious matter.
Yes. Although teens want to believe that they are independent enough or mature enough to make their own decisions...they are not. Parents need to become parents and not friends with their children. This is why I strongly believe that parents need to show firmness, yet flexibility in order for their children to feel secure in coming to them with such an issue as pregnancy and abortion. As a mother, I understand I will not be able to shelter my children from their own mistakes, but I do have the power to teach them and give them the tools they need to make good choices in their lives. I know my comment deals with other topics, but I felt it important to mention how a parent might keep their children from going through a pregnancy at such an early age. But again, I do feel its importnat for teens to talk to their parents before letting society dictate what should be done with the unborn child.
I do agree with you anonymous that the teens should talk to their parents rather than let the society dictate or rule. You are absolutely correct.
Yes, an unmarried teen should have their parents permission in such a serious and life altering matter. A teen who is immature, afraid, embarrassed and feeling hopeless needs a mature and loving parent and/or mentor to guide them away from their selfishness into selfless thinking about the precious life they carry as a result of their actions.
During your show you asked the question,"Should teens need their parents permission when going for an abortion?" I agreee with Sarah wholeheartedly and would like to add one more point. Earlier in the program Sarah said we needed a tribe to raise our children. This includes making very difficult decisions like this one. The more input a person has from their tribe, the greater the chance of a good decision or a GOD decision. When we make these choices on our own, they are only our choices alone. We are never alone. God has the great wisdom of giving us one another to guide us through life. Thank you Lord, God!
Great. Wonderful. Relay on the Divine Wisdom.
Parents are responsible for the health and welfare of their children, at least to age 18. How can we remove parental responsibility in this one area without the kids being emancipated? It's a case of liberals trying to put wedges in the family unit without considering the consequences. Of course, no one seems to have suggested that kids talk to their parents before having sex. Kids need to learn there are consequences for their decisions.
By not getting permission from the parents, someone else is taking over raising our kids. The government is a poor choice because we change the lawmakers frequently. Parents need to take back their responsibilities and oppose those who would interfere with their authority.
