I spent over 45 years in the insurance industry. During that time, I learned a lot about the things being insured as well as insurance. Now in retirement, and living in another state, I am trying to help those who have been victimized by unscrupulous roof repair companies. After the election, I plan to propose legislation that will not only reduce fraud but that will reduce the severity of claims. The person who prompted this decision is disabled. His 94 year old mother lives with him and his wife. He suffered hail damage. The roofers did not do a proper job in replacing his roof. As a result, after the first rain he incurred interior damage. To have repairs made to the interior would require payment of a second deductible. That is not satisfactory so I am helping him.
